Print and Poem: David Shrigley, ‘ANOTHER TASK FOR YOU’

Edition of 100

Conceived in 2015 between Stephen Stuart-Smith from Enitharmon and Jealous Director Dario Illari, The Print and the Poem has the intention of initiating a valid and honest dialogue between art and writing. The presentation of each publication in the form of a portfolio is also intrinsic to the project, with each portfolio and its contents being an object to be explored and engaged with.

The Print and the Poem series is being enthusiastically collected both by institutions and by private collectors, and it now forms part of the Victoria & Albert Museum’s National ArtLibrary.

The first publication in the series was The Moment by Gavin Turk (2015) original poem and original print by Gavin Turk, signed and numbered edition of75.

In 2016 Gary Hume created a beautiful original print which quietly observes and subtly captures the human form with an accompanying poem by Rickey Laurentiis.

‘When we received David’s artwork for The Print and Poem it came to usrolled in a tube. We removed the artwork carefully from the tube and readthe text without unrolling the whole thing. The poem is Poignant, serious, playful and captures perfectly who and what we are as people. After reading the poem we unrolled the work and smiled as the deep blue sea just kept unrolling. Beguilingly simple, touching and beautiful’. Dario Illari

The print will be released at the London Original Print Fair (4th-7th May) exclusive to Jealous and Enitharmon Editions, for free tickets please contact us at info@jealousgallery.com
