Screenprinting
Our print studio is equipped to produce the highest quality screen prints through collaboration between the artist and our printers.
We work with individual artists, galleries and print publishers, using our experience and expertise to turn the artist's initial ideas into a finished print edition.
We work from a wide variety of artwork sources from simple drawings on clear film to digital photographic images. These are made into screen stencils, one for each colour in the finished print. Some beautiful prints are made with only one colour, sometimes there are twenty or more colours with even more created as transparent shades overlay one another.
We can use varnishes, glittering golds and silvers or layers of ink so thick that they stand up in relief. We use the finest quality mould-made and hand-made papers, generally printing edition sizes of between 15 and 150 prints.
We take pride in our innovative approach to printmaking and have made editions using mixed digital and silkscreen media, CMYK silkscreen printing and the finest half tones to achieve exceptional results.
Giclee printing
Giclee prints are high quality digital prints created using archival inks on the best printmaking paper. We have recently updated our equipment to the latest generation Epson 9880 large format printer, as used by the Royal College of Art.
The 9880 uses the UltraChrome K3 ink system and can print up to a width of 44". When combined with fine art papers such as Somerset Enhanced and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, the latest RIP software, and individual profiling and set up for each artwork, the K3 system produces exceptional quality prints, with lightfastness ratings of 108 years in colour, and 200 years in black and white.
At Jealous we use our state of the art large format machine to print the digital elements of mixed media screen/giclee editions. Mixed media editions have become a speciality at Jealous, and we have been achieving exciting and beautiful results that we believe are unique in quality and expertise.
We can also make prints from original digital artwork and we can also print exceptionally accurate reproductions of an existing painting, drawing or collage.
