Jealous is delighted to reopen it's doors with our first exhibition of the year. Inspired by the start of the new season, ‘Floral Pleasure’ is a group exhibition formed around Spring’s most synonymous feature; flowers. From posies to pansies, the exhibition is bursting with fresh new works by our artists.

AS WE MOVE INTO SPRING, OUR JEALOUS STAFF HAVE RESPONDED TO THE ENERGY OF THE SEASON, CREATING ARTWORK INFLUENCED BY FLOWERS COMING INTO BLOOM. VIEWERS ARE INVITED TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN THE VARYING INTERPRETATIONS OF FLORAL ART.

PARTICIPATING ARTISTS INCLUDE ADAM BRIDGLAND, ARTUR STREKALOV, AUGUSTINE & BRIDGLAND, ORAN BRIDGLAND, BENCH ALLEN, CHARLIE ELLE, DARIO ILLARI, DAVID ILLARI, FENN & GORSKA, FERN GOOZÉE, FIONA VERRAN, GLEBS KOSTENKO, INES FERNANDEZ DE CORDOVA, JESS WILSON, MELODY BOURDON, NIKKI HEMMINGS, RUNNER BEAN, SHANNON MCFERRIN, SAMUEL COLEMAN, THEE BLACK GRAY, TOM ADAMS AND WILLIAM KINGETT.

JEALOUS SCREENPRINTER AND ARTIST TOM ADAMS' WORK INCORPORATES HIS PASSION FOR TYPOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATION, WITH A BIT OF WORD PLAY EVERY NOW AND THEN - WITH HIS CONTRIBUTION FOR THE 'FLORAL PLEASURE' EXHIBITION BEING THE PERFECT REPRESENTATION OF THIS. TOM'S DESIGN WAS THE BASIS FOR THE EXHIBITION TITLE, HIS HUMOROUS WORDPLAY PROVIDING THE IDEAL SUMMARY OF THE GENERAL THEME.

TOM'S SELL-OUT 'FUCKING FLOWERS' EDITION WAS THE STARTING POINT FOR HIS REVISITED FLORAL-BASED RELEASES, WHERE HE SCREENPRINTED A TRANSLUCENT INK ONTO FLOWER-PRESSED PAPER.

YOU CAN FIND MORE OF TOM'S ARTWORKS HERE ON OUR WEBSITE.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR JESS WILSON HAS BEEN WITH JEALOUS FOR OVER A DECADE, FIRST HONING HER SCREENPRINTING SKILLS IN OUR CROUCH END GALLERY. SINCE THE EARLY DAYS HER ARTISTIC STYLE HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY EVOLVING, AND HER NEW BODY OF WORK UTILISES PLANTS AND FLOWERS FORAGED FROM NATURE TO CREATE THE STENCILS.

INSPIRED BY BOTANICAL PRINTING, WILSON EMPLOYED THIS TECHNIQUE TO CREATE VARIOUS SILK SCREENS FROM NATURE, OVERLAYING HER DESIGNS TO CREATE A SERIES OF UNIQUE PRINTS. IF YOU ARE KEEN TO SEE MORE, JESS WILSON’S AVAILABLE PRINTS CAN BE VIEWED HERE.

SCREENPRINTER BENCH ALLEN HAILS FROM THE OCEAN CITY OF PLYMOUTH. KNOWN FOR HIS ENCYCLOPAEDIC DOCUMENTING OF NATURAL HISTORY AND SPECIALISING IN NAUTICAL NARRATIVES; HIS WORK IS INSPIRED BY THE BEAUTY OF THE NATURAL AND UNNATURAL WORLD.

HIS CONTRIBUTION TO THE EXHIBITION DRAWS ON HIS INTEREST IN NATURE AND INCORPORATES THE BOLD BACKGROUND OF COLOUR WHICH IS A COMMON THEME IN MANY OF HIS WORKS. TO SEE AND BUY MORE OF BENCH'S WORKS, JUST CLICK HERE.

SCREENPRINTER WILLIAM KINGETT CLAIMS TO BE VERY PROCESS DRIVEN, HE IS ALSO PASSIONATE ABOUT TYPOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATED ICONIC POPULAR CULTURE, FOR THIS REASON WILLIAM KINGETT HAS FIRMLY PLACED HIS CREATIVE FOOTING IN PRINTMAKING, TO PRODUCE IMPRESSIVE ART PRINTS.

THE TITLE FOR HIS WORK FOR THE EXHIBITION ('LOVE YOURSELF') IS A PLAY ON THE FLOWER IT REPRESENTS, A NARCISSUS; THE NAME ALSO GIVEN TO A CHARACTER IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY WHO BECAME SO OBSESSED WITH HIS OWN REFLECTION IN WATER THAT HE DROWNED AND THE NARCISSUS PLANT SPRANG FROM WHERE HE DIED.
