Jealous were delighted to continue their working relationship with the ICA last month, producing a new edition for Australian artist Helen Johnson.
The print entitled Argument, 2017 is a digital archival print with emboss and
gold metallic and nylobag silkscreen overlays. The edition marked an exciting development for the studio, with the large scale relief printer
being used for the first time to create a bespoke emboss on to surface around the faces on the print. The work was commissioned and launched
to coincide with Helen's solo exhibition Warm Ties.
Argument is almost a printed simulacra of Johnson’s painterly style. Depicting two people deep in conversation, or
arguing, the edition follows Johnson’s socio-political interest Australian identity politics. Helen Johnson is an artist based in Melbourne. Recent solo exhibitions include Barron Field as part of the 2016 Glasgow International, Slow Learners at Château Shatto, Los Angeles, 2015 and Cafe Fatigue at Sutton Gallery, Melbourne, 2015.
